    Description

This sale is for an early 1950s/Korean War Era, enamel, distinctive unit insignia (DUI/DI) for the 6th Engineer Battalion of the US Army. This is the pin-back version. The design has an elegant single oak leaf with a black enamel oval border that reads " Clairs Chenes N'Obliez Jamais," or "The Cleared Oaks- Never Forget Them," alluding to the unit's WWI service in White Oaks France. The back is marked "NS Meyer Inc N.Y.C
.," with Meyers shield below.  It is regulation sized- see images.
The design dates to September 17, 1925, when it was approved by the Army. The unit was organized during the First World War, and its heraldic imagery in the crest comes from its service in that war. In WWII, the unit saw service in New Guinea, Luzon, and Ryukyus.
This insignia ships free USPS First Class Mail.
