I recently acquired 4 of these special Antique/Vintage Carved Cherry Amber Statues, from a wealthy man's estate that had a large collection of Asian Antiques. Apparently, he had previously traveled the world collecting Rare Items throughout his life! I am listing each of these separately, so please check the other listings if you are interested in all of them! This piece measures 2 inches tall, 1 inch wide, and is 1-1 1/4 inch thick! These pieces are carved out of an extremely rich, deep Cherry Red Amber! Although these are small carvings, they are quite detailed and remind me of Netsukes! This particular piece depicts a Happy Smiling Buddha, seated holding a parasol or umbrella above him. This is a sign of protection and royalty, providing "shade" that protects one from the heat of suffering, desire, and other spiritually harmful forces! These are often used to symbolize a mobile temple and denote honor and respect! The parasol can also represent the union of duality, with the dome symbolizing wisdom and the covering symbolizing compassion! This is in good condition for it's age. There are markings on the bottom where these have been tested for authenticity. There is also a crack on the bottom of this piece, but is not structurally damaging. There are a few tiny chips and scratches, but none that are significant or distract from the rarity and beauty of the piece! I was not able to locate a signature or maker's mark. There is another one exactly like this one, so they could have been a set or pair at one time. The 3rd is a Hotei Buddha and the 4th is actually a large bead that requires more research! Although I am showing a picture of the pair and group, this is only for the one listing!
Please see pictures! I sell rocks for my "real" job but have a passion for rare, exotic, treasures-especially Wearable Art! Please ask any questions! Best offers are always welcomed! International shipping is available as long as the buyer pays for the additional shipping costs and fees! I have successfully shipped all over the USA, China, and Russia! Peace, Love, and Light!
