This home stands amid century old cedars and boxwoods on the grounds of Clemson College at Clemson, SC...Fort Hill is open to the public and is visited by scores each year...It is furnished with the periodic furniture of Calhoun's day and his cherished pieces are among them...Ihe surroundings contain an Arbor Vitae presented by Henry Clay, a huge hemlock given by Daniel Webster and a varnish tree, now a stump, from the Island of Madagascar - in the library at Fort Hill. Calhoun wrote many of his famous speeches. He lived here from 1825 until his death in 1850. The card is in good condition, scratches & dings, aging on the back, with wear on the corners and sides.
