GEM scattershield flywheel cover for McCulloch kart engine

Description

This is a cast aluminum GEM "scattershield" flywheel cover for the non-Super McCulloch kart engine s- i.e. Mc6, 7, 8, 9, 90, 91, 92, 93. These were created in the mid 60's primarily to protect enduro racers who were winding the little Macs tight for long periods of time and occasionally a flywheel would come apart. Since they look neat though, they also became a dress up item for sprint karters - and being more robust, it eliminated the sometimes issue of flywheel covers developing cracks from over tightening or vibration. So you get style AND function! This unit is actually a reproduction. A vintage karter had a small run of these reproduced about 10 years ago and they are very well done. With some elbow grease the piece could be polished to a mirror-like finish, burnished for a bright finish, or it could be beadblasted back to an as-cast look. The choice is yours.
