    Description

Offered for sale is a beautiful and LARGE carnival glass FRUIT BOWL in the TWINS (aka Horseshoe Curve) pattern, made by Imperial.  It is made of clear glass with shiny and colorful marigold (orange) iridescence both inside and out. The TWINS pattern features six hobstars
in a teardrop outline, alternating with six large rising-sun shapes with pointed rays extending to the tall arched rim.
The rim has small pointed scallops on the large lobes.
    The TWINS pattern
was introduced in or around 1910, as shown by a print ad from 1911 (picture 10).  It seems early iridescent glass wasn't just offered as carnival prizes; it was also given away as grocery promotions!  I do NOT claim that this bowl is as old as that.  It's old, but the TWINS pattern continued in production for many years, and I don't know when this one was made.
It DOES NOT come with its matching stand
, shown in the 1911 newspaper ad.
The bowl measures 10 inches (25.4cm) across the widest part, and stands 4 1/4 inches (10.8cm) to the top of the arched rim. It is shown with a U.S. quarter in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. This is an impressive vintage carnival glass piece for your collection!
The fruit bowl is in USED condition.  There are no cracks or scratches, and t
he iridescent finish is shiny and bright with no signs of wear.
There is a long (~1 inch) but shallow chip
(red arrow, picture 6) on one of the pulled-out points on the rim (red arrow, picture 6).  The other five points are undamaged, and they look like picture 7 (green arrow).
