I just recently acquired this at a high end estate sale in the Orlando area! This looks like it could have come off of a statue from some temple or sacred place far away in the Orient. This piece is HUGE and is extremely heavy! Carved from stone, you can see the age in this. This Antique/Vintage Carved Stone Eleven Headed Kuan Yin is Simply Exquisite! The natural light banding in the stone adds layers and dimensions to this piece! There is almost a marbling of shades of gray, with some browns and some black. The stone itself is quite intriguing with banding, marbling, and almost polka dots scattered throughout! I believe this to be Kuan Yin after she is gifted her 1,000 arms and 11 heads, so that she may better assist all sentient beings! Kuan Yin is the Goddess of Love, Compassion, and Mercy and hears the cries from the suffering here on Earth. She was offered Enlightenment or Nirvana-but turned it down! She said No, there is too much pain and suffering and she would not go until we ALL reached Enlightenment, which is the Vow of the Bodhisattva. Her main head has such a peaceful, serene expression that I always associate with Kuan Yin's Lovingkindness! There are 10 smaller heads sprouting out the top of her head, which have various expressions on their faces and what appears to be the remnant of a crown on their heads. There are 3 rows: the 1st row has 6 heads, the 2nd row has 3 heads, and the 3rd row has just 1 head. There are some white marks that appear to be from age. Kuan Yin's ears are elongated, as are the smaller heads. In other tradition's this could also be Chenrizig or Avalolokesvara! There is only 1 spot that could have been repaired: the "crown" on the 2nd head from the left on the bottom row-please see pictures. This is the only "issue" I have found. This measures about 20 1/2 inches tall, about 12 inches wide, and is about 10 inches deep! This piece looks and feels extremely old and deserves to be in a place of honor! A special display may need to be created for her to withstand the weight of this piece! I have not weighed this because it is so heavy that I can not lift it! So this is probably 80 pounds! This will require special shipping, however I have successfully shipped items of this nature before. This piece will be double boxed for protection and to avoid "crating" unless the buyer requests and pays for this service. I can ship this Internationally as long as the buyer pays for all of the additional fees. Please see pictures! I sell rocks for my "real" job but have a passion for rare, exotic, treasures-especially Wearable Art! Please ask any questions! Best offers are always welcomed! International shipping is available as long as the buyer pays for the additional shipping costs and fees! I have successfully shipped all over the USA, China, and Russia! Peace, Love, and Light!
