  • Condition: There is one small hairline crack,the grate is deteriorated but a new grate and handle is included,there would need to be gaskets and/or stove cement between the sections. The grate shaft has a little keeper that is a bit busted up on the end. Bolts or studs that held it together are rotted off.

    Description

    I am not familiar with these and have never used one but as a longtime plumber,I can see how it might be useful say in a mountain cabin or other location where there is no gas or electricity. These evidently were used in combination with a tank of some sort and would either push the water through with pressure or thermosylphon the water as it was heated up. This thing  says it was tested at 300LBS but operating pressure should not exceed 120LBS,I'm not sure I would put any pressure on it,just let  it heat the water and drain out what you need to bath or wash. Never heat it up and then run water into it or it will break and cause a lot of problems. The different sections should have heat proof gaskets and/or some good stove cement or sealer between them before use. There are the remnants of long bolts or studs screwed into the top tank and look like they originally went through the edge of the grate to hold it all together except the base. Talking with a stove expert or someone experienced with these might be a good idea before assembly and use. There is a 1" threaded connection out the top and side. In would be the side one,out would be the top one. It all appears to be in pretty good condition except for one small hairline crack in the lower section. This should be repaired before use. There is a brand new old grate and handle with it,otherwise this thing would probably be yard art. It was designed for use in a pressurized system,if you have a well with pressure,I wouldn't run a lot of real cold water through it while it's really hot. Like any coal or woodburning appliance,it has carbon residue built up in places on the inside and that may look cracked but it's not the cast iron. When sold it will be boxed in at least two boxes and well packed. Buy and use at your own risk. Will be sent by FedEx Ground or Home Delivery.
