    Description

Here is a very rare water set which was made by 2 different companies, LE Smith produced the pitcher and Imperial Glass made the tumblers. The set is red carnival in color and has the robin design on them. This set was commissioned by E Ward Russell of Silver Springs, MD in 1977. Imperial made the tumblers that were supposed to go with the 300 sets Mr Russell ordered from them and started to make the pitchers but after 75 were made the Imperial Glass Co went on strike, not knowing how long the strike would last he went to LE Smith to finish the pitchers but they agreed to if they could mark the pitchers with thier "S" mark, after producing less than 100 of the pitchers Smith began trouble producing the ruby colored glass and stopped production. The set is considered very scarce since there was less than 175 sets completed in these marked with the IG or S mark. The pitcher is marked with an "S" and the tumblers are marked "IG" on the inside. The pitcher is 8 1/2" high and the tumblera are 4 1/4" high and 2 3/4" in diameter. The set is in excellent condition free of chips or cracks. Please ask more detailed questions. I will pack in oversized box to assure the items are shipped safely. I quoted the shipping cost using USPS but I can ship FedEx if the rate is lower.
