Description
This auction is for this Vintage 1950s Japanese Embroidered Reversible Jacket of the Korean War Era. My father was stationed in Kobe Japan with the US Army, during the Korean War. He bought this jacket for 5000 yen (exchange rate at time was 360 yen for 1 US dollar) in 1952 at a shop on Motomachi Street. The shop made all kinds of embroidered things including fancy kimonos for Japanese women, silk shirts and these types of jackets that appealed to the GIs.This jacket is approximately medium in size. From pit to pit it is approximately 20”. The sleeve length (collar to cuff) is approximately 27 inches. The zipper length is approximately 20”.
It has some stains and discoloration from age. There is a pulled thread from the embroidery on the back which I tried to show in the pictures. There is also a small hole in the left arm approximately 5 inches above the cuff, visible in the pictures. There is another very small hole below the left pit on the back. Keep in mind, this jacket is close to 70 years old and was worn, not boxed up. I tried to be as descriptive as possible. If you have any questions please ask. Shipping included.
