Vintage 5-3/4" unknown material black Happy Buddha - very detailed VGC

Vintage  Buddha 5-3/4" high x 3-1/2" wide, is unmarked, very detailed with Asian designs on the clothing and a large necklace. He is quite heavy and could be resin but I am unsure.
