Painted Bamboo Hat
This old hat was recently acquired at an estate auction. It is exactly as found. It is appealing, desirable & highly collectible.
It is made of bamboo panels that have been flattened & tied together. Each panel has been painted with appealing scenes of rural life. This hat is old & was well loved by its owner. That is evident by the numerous repairs that were made to this hat. The rim has several different lashings from different repairs.
The scenes on the hat show wear. The paint has worn off in spots. The interior of the hat shows wear too. The head harness is detached in one spot. This can be seen in the photos
. The issues described do not detract from the overall appeal of this antique hat. It displays well. This will make a great addition to any home or collection.
