Vintage Handmade Batik Copper/Metal Fabric Stamp Heart Design

Description

I purchased this beautiful Batik fabric stamp from an estate sale in Maryland. The woman who owned it told me that she had the stamp custom made and used for her wedding dress back in the 1950's. Stamp measures 5" x 4", metal handle is 3 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" wide.
These fabric stamps were handmade of copper strips, carefully cut, shaped and soldered in to unique shapes and patterns. Artists would dip the stamps in hot wax, shake off the excess and stamp the design onto  the fabric before it was dyed.
